About this course
Raspberry Pi is a small Linux computer, which makes it ideal for IoT gateways, local data processing and applications that need more than a microcontroller can offer. This course combines Linux fundamentals with Python programming and hardware interfacing.
You learn to control GPIO, talk to I2C and SPI sensors, run scripts as services, collect data from several nodes and forward it to a broker or API. The course also explains when a Raspberry Pi is the right tool and when an ESP32 is a better, cheaper choice.
Who is this course for?
- Computer-science and IT students who want hardware exposure
- Learners comfortable with basic programming
- Developers building edge or gateway applications
- Project students needing a Linux-based controller
Eligibility
For learners with basic programming knowledge in any language. Exact eligibility is confirmed at enrollment.
Prerequisites recommended
Basic programming logic. Familiarity with a command line is helpful but covered in the course.

- MQTT bridge between ESP32 nodes and a cloud endpoint
These are example exercises and project concepts for this course, not a record of projects completed by past learners.
Outcomes, career directions and limits
Skills you should be able to demonstrate
- Set up and manage a headless Raspberry Pi
- Write Python programs that read sensors and run reliably as services
- Build a gateway that collects, buffers and forwards data
- Explain when to use Raspberry Pi versus a microcontroller
- Secure basic remote access to the device
Relevant career directions
- Edge and gateway development trainee roles after further practice
- Python-based automation and data collection
- Foundation for AIoT and analytics work
What this course does not do
- Raspberry Pi is not a real-time controller. Hard real-time control is better handled by microcontrollers or PLCs.
- Production deployment, fleet management and certification are not covered in depth.
Career outcomes depend on your skills, portfolio, experience and employer requirements. No course can guarantee a job.

Check Your Special Course FeeRaspberry Pi with Python and IoT Training: frequently asked questions
Is Raspberry Pi better than Arduino or ESP32?
They solve different problems. Raspberry Pi runs a full operating system and suits gateways, processing and applications. Microcontrollers suit low-power, low-cost, real-time sensing. Many systems use both.
Do I need to know Linux already?
No. The first module covers the Linux skills needed for the rest of the course.
Which Raspberry Pi model is needed?
Hardware requirements are confirmed by the training team at enquiry. Do not purchase hardware until the requirements are confirmed.
Does the course include machine learning?
Machine learning is outside this course. See the AIoT course for data analysis and edge-inference concepts.
