About this course
Industrial IoT applies connected sensing and data analysis to machines, plants and utilities. The priorities differ from consumer IoT: reliability, safety, determinism, long equipment lifetimes and integration with existing automation systems matter more than novelty.
This course explains the industrial context and builds practical understanding of sensors, signal types, industrial protocols, gateways and monitoring dashboards. Prototypes use low-cost hardware to demonstrate concepts such as vibration and temperature monitoring and Modbus data acquisition.
Who is this course for?
- Electrical, electronics, instrumentation and mechatronics students
- Diploma holders and technicians moving toward automation
- Maintenance and plant professionals
- Learners who completed IoT fundamentals and want an industrial focus
Eligibility
For learners with basic electrical or electronics background. Exact eligibility is confirmed at enrollment.

Outcomes, career directions and limits
Skills you should be able to demonstrate
- Explain how IIoT differs from consumer IoT and why
- Read data from a Modbus device and publish it to a broker
- Choose suitable sensors and signal types for a monitoring task
- Describe network segmentation and basic OT security principles
- Present a condition-monitoring prototype with realistic limitations
Relevant career directions
- Trainee roles in industrial monitoring and automation support after further practice
- Technician-to-engineer progression with additional PLC and SCADA skills
- Foundation for predictive maintenance and analytics
What this course does not do
- Prototype hardware is not a substitute for certified industrial equipment, and live plant work needs site training and safety authorisation.
- The course does not cover safety instrumented systems or hazardous-area certification.
Career outcomes depend on your skills, portfolio, experience and employer requirements. No course can guarantee a job.
